Sophie's Sugar Cookies

Delicate sugar cookies that can be rolled and cut into any shape possible.
 

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 C flour
  • 1 t. cream of tartar
  • 1/2 t. baking soda
  • 1/4 t. salt
  • 1 C butter
  • 1 t. vanilla
  • 1 C sugar
  • 2 large eggs, beaten well
 
Method

Sift flour, cream of tartar, soda and salt. Cream butter with vanilla and sugar. Stir in beaten eggs. Add dry ingredients gradually. Chill dough about 2 hrs. Roll out 1/4" thick. Bake 8-10 minutes at 375 degrees. When cool, frost as desired. Makes about 6 dozen cookies. Icing: 2 Cups confectioner's sugar and 1/2 t vanilla enough warm milk to make a thin frosting (add a few tablespoons at a time).
