Old Fashioned Sugar Cookies

Delectable pressed cookies with a sugary crust just like grandma used to make. I can smell them now.Ingredients
- 2 C. butter
- 2 C. powdered sugar
- 1 C. sugar
- 2 eggs 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 tsp. lemon zest
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. cream of tartar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 4 1/2 C. flour
- 1/2 C. sugar

Method
Melt butter and add to sugars and mix. Let cool to room temperature and beat in egg one at a time. Then add vanilla, lemon zest, baking soda, cream of tartar and salt, mix well. Chill dough for at least one hour or over night. Preheat oven to 325 degrees and place rack in middle of oven. Grease cookie sheet. Roll dough into walnut-sized balls, roll in sugar. Place balls on cookie sheet and flatten balls with greased glass. Bake for 10 to 15 min. cool 2 min. on cookie sheet then remove to wire rack.
