Old Fashioned Pecan Pie Bars

This bar cookie has the flavor and consistency of pecan pie filling, plus the richness of chocolate!
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 3 eggs, slightly beaten
- 3/4 cup corn syrup
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 3/4 cup chocolate chips
- 1 1/2 cup toasted and chopped pecans

Preheat oven to 350 and grease a 13X9 inch baking pan. In a small mixing bowl blend flour, butter and brown sugar until crumbly. Press into bottom and 1 inch up sides of prepared baking pan. Bake for 10-15 minutes until just golden. Place on rack to cool. Meanwhile in a medium bowl blend eggs, corn syrup, sugar, butter and vanilla. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts. Pour over prepared crust, spreading evenly. Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until set in center. Cool on a rack, cut into squares to serve.
Notes: These bars almost put pecan pie to shame because they have - you guessed it - chocolate! They make more servings and are easy. What more could you ask?
