Here is a version of everyone's favorite-chocolate chip cookies! Almond extract is a special ingredient in these.
In a large bowl, cream butter and shortening togther on medium speed of an electric mixer. Add granulated sugar and mix for one minute. Add brown sugar, then eggs and hot water. Add vanilla and almond extract. In a separate bowl, mix flour, salt, and baking soda. Gradually add flour mixture to the butter mixture until it is all incorporated. Stir in chocolate chips. Drop by rounded teaspoons onto an ungreased cookie sheet, preferably lined with parchment paper. Bake at 375 degrees for 8 minutes, or until edges begin to turn golden. Let cookies cool on baking sheet until sturdy enough to transfer (1 to 2 minutes).
Notes:
I always use Guittard milk chocolate chips, my mom used Hershey's or Nestle.
