German Cheese Horns

Circles of rich dough, made with margarine, cream cheese and egg yolks, are filled with a mixture of sugar, pecans and cinnamon, folded in half, sealed and baked.
 

Ingredients

  • 2 3 oz. packages cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup margarine, softened
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • Filling:
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 cups chopped pecans
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon

Method

Cream together cheese, margarine and yolks. Mix in flour and salt. Chill one hour or more. Roll out on powdered sugar-sprinkled surface, cut into circles. Combine Filling ingredients. Fill dough circles with nut mixture; fold in half and press together. Bake 20 minutes at 350 degrees. When cool, roll in powdered sugar.

 

Notes: This is a soft dough and works best to make it on cool/cold days.

 

Number of Servings: about 4 dozen.
