Cookies with a Surprise

The surprise in these peanut butter cookies is the M&M tucked inside the dough--sure to be a kid pleaser.
 

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup smooth peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/4 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Small bag M&Ms

Method

In large bowl mix butter, peanut butter, sugars, and egg. Blend in remaining ingredients except M&Ms. Cover and chill. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Mold 1 tablespoon dough around one or two candies. Place about 2 inches apart on lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake about 9 or 10 minutes until set but not hard.

 

Notes: You can use any type M&M's that you like. I sprinkle a small amount of powdered sugar over the cookies just after they come out of the oven, but that is optional.

 

Number of Servings: Makes about 4 dozen cookies
