Chocolate Chip Cookies with Surprise Ingredient

The surprise ingredient in this chocolate chip cookie is peanut butter, stirred into the batter.
Ingredients
- 8 Tbsp. unsalted butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar
- 1/4 cup creamy peanut butter
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 12 oz. chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Method
Preheat at 375. Line sheets with parchment. Slowly cream butter and sugars together until light and fluffy. Add peanut butter, beating until smooth. Beat in eggs and vanilla. In a large bowl, sift together flour, soda and salt. Add to creamed mixture, on low speed, until dough comes together. Mix in chips and nuts. Drop heaping tablespoons of dough 2 inches apart. Bake 9 to 12 minutes. Cool on wire rack.
Notes: Great basic cookie to experiment with. Try different combinations of nut butters, chocolates and chopped nuts. Plan on making more than one batch. Recipe triples easily in a 6-quart mixing bowl.
