The batter for these mocha-flavored brownies contains melted chocolate chips and espresso powder, and is sprinkled with chopped Milky Way bars before baking.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, cut up
  • 5 ounces semisweet chocolate chips
  • 2 teaspoons instant espresso powder or 1 1/2 tablespoons instant coffee powder
  • 4 large eggs (at room temperature)
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 3/4 cups sugar
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups finely chopped Milky Way candy bars

Method

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Grease and flour a 13x9" metal baking pan and set aside. Using a heavy large saucepan over medium low heat, stir together butter, chocolate chips and espresso powder until chocolate is melted and smooth. Cool slightly. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, vanilla, salt and sugar. Whisk in the warm chocolate mixture until well blended, then stir in flour until well blended. Spread batter evenly in prepared pan. Evenly sprinkle with chopped candy bar pieces. Bake brownies until a toothpick inserted near the center come out clean, 25-30 minutes. Cool slightly in pan on rack. Remove from pan and cool completely before cutting.

Notes: I use Watkins vanilla vanille originale double force.
