Brownie Reeses Bars

This is a dessert for the brownie lover that doesn't like to open Reese's. Just make the brownies and make a quick topping and you're done.
Ingredients
- 1 package fudge brownie mix
- 8 oz Reese's Premier baking pieces (tiny Reese's Peanut Butter Cups)
- 1/2 cup salted peanuts, chopped
- 12 oz good quality semi-sweet chocolate, chopped (about 2 cups)
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/4 cups smooth peanut butter
- 1 Tablespoon butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cup crisp rice cereal

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Prepare brownie batter according to the package directions. Pour mixture into a 13 x 9 inch greased oven proof baking dish. Bake for 30 minutes or until completely set. Add Reese's baking pieces and chopped peanuts to top of baked brownie mixture and bake for an additional 3 to 4 minutes until Reese's pieces begin to melt. Remove from oven and set aside on a wire rack. In a medium saucepan and with heat set at medium-low, combine chocolate, salt, peanut butter and butter. Stir constantly until smooth. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and cereal. Spread mixture over brownie mixture and place in refrigerator for 2 to 3 hours until cool and firm. When cool, remove from refrigerator and cut into bite size pieces.
Notes: This recipe travels well and is always a hit with adults and children alike.
