Billy Goat Date Cakes

These "cakes" could really be a drop cookie, with a batter of brown sugar, butter and sour cream, and snipped dates, walnuts and nutmeg added.
Ingredients
- 1 lb. pitted dates
- 1 C. chopped walnuts
- 1/4 lb. butter (1 stick)
- 1 C. brown sugar
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1/2 C. sour cream
- 1 1/2 C. all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. allspice
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/4 tsp. nutmeg or mace

Method
Cut dates into pieces with scissors and mix with nuts. Cream butter with sugar and beat in eggs until light and fluffy. Beat in sour cream. Mix 1/2 cup of the flour into dates and nuts to coat them. Mix together remaining dry ingredients; stir into egg mixture; add dates and nuts. Drop batter by spoonfuls on well-greased cookie sheets. Bake at 350 until nicely browned, 10 to 12 minutes.
